Hero Honda may be in splitting mood, but the company will not go this Diwali festive season without any firecrackers. Just when their is buzz about Hero Honda partnership is breaking, the largest two wheeler manufacturer comes with revamped model of its existing Hero Honda Achiever. The new upgraded variant comes with structural changes as well as cosmetic changes in design and style.

Launched in 2005 Hero Honda Achiever is one of the big flops of the largest selling two wheeler maker. The bike was relaunched in 2007, too. Both the launches in 2005 and 2007 failed to get a grip on market and thus Hero Honda have launched it again now in an altogether new avatar.

Technical specifications remaining same, the new Hero Honda Achiever features a 4 stroke engine with a displacement of 149.1cc that can generate a peak power of 13.4bhp @ 8000rpm. Frame also remaining same i.e. a diamond look but acceptable this time with some extra and glossy graphics. The engine has received a dark black color over its presentation which is really giving some value to bike and making it even in today’s market.

The new Hero Honda Achiever claims to be unique in 150cc segment offering better mileage in comparison to rivals. The bike is said to come with Tuff-Up tube that can decrease the possibilities of Tyre puncture.

James Bond Car For Sale at London Auction

The Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery in James Bond movies “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball” is ready to go on sale this month. It will be auctioned in London at an expected price of USD four to five million. The car has a truck load of features not found in any other cars including revolving number plates, ejector seats, nail spreader, etc. The car is also equipped with machine guns, bullet-proof shield, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer and smoke screen, all controlled by "toggles and switches hidden in the centre arm-rest.

“This authentic Bond movie car is factory-fitted with the full complement of operational 'Q-Branch' gadgets," said RM Auctions ahead of the sale in London. The model is currently owned by Jerry Lee, resident of Pennsylvania, US who purchased it in 1969 at a price of USD 12,000. He intends to sell the car now to raise money for his charitable trust.

The successful bidder will also be entitled to a stay at the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica, the original Caribbean estate of Fleming, worth some 40,000 pounds, and a custom-made suit woven with gold thread made by the tailors who dressed Connery as Bond.

Hyosung Brand of Two-Wheelers to Re-Enter India as Garware Hyosung

Textile Company Garware announced its entering the automobile market with the launch of Garware Motors. The company has joined hands with the Korean automaker to launch Hyosung brand of two-wheelers in India as Garware Hyosung. The company will bring in two models of motorcycles in the 650-700 cc range. Its models Cruise Bike ST7 and Super Bike GT650 are expected to be introduced in the Indian market by the first quarter of 2011.


Garware Motors with the help of S&T Motors will set up an assembly plant at Wai in Maharashtra with a capacity to manufacture 8-10 bikes a day. The plant would have a full-fledged assembly line, CKD storage facility, test track and a quality centre. Ibanez said that the new bikes will be priced in the range of Rs5,00,000-6,50,000.

“The idea is to make powerful and aspirational bikes available to the Indian enthusiasts at affordable prices. We are committed to provide a world-class biking experience to enthusiasts from India. To start with we will be targeting 10 Indian cities that include metropolitan as well as Tier one cities and will spread later to tier two and tier three cities,” said Diya Garware Ibanez, managing director, Garware Motors Limited.

Currently, Harley Davidson is offering products in similar range, while Bajaj Auto is soon planning to launch Kawasaki Ninja 650r, which will be fully manufactured in India. The new Hyosung bikes will be initially present in 10 cities of India, which include Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi and Goa.

Maruti Ritz; More than 1 Lakh Maruti Ritz Sold

Maruti Ritz has joined the league of most successful models in the Indian car market after Alto and Swift. The car crossed one lakh sales figure in a span of 17 months of its launch. "We are overwhelmed by the terrific response given by our customers to the Maruti Suzuki Ritz," MSI Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said, claiming that the car was the fastest to cross the one lakh sales milestone in the premium compact car segment.

Ritz' sales are attributed to its contemporary looks and attitude apart from its brand value and engineering lending it fuel efficiency, reliability and performance. Maruti Ritz was launched in May 2009 is currently priced between Rs 4.05 lakh and Rs 4.96 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 4.79 lakh and Rs 5.14 lakh for the diesel variant. It had also crossed its 50,000 sales market in record time as well.

The Ritz has been developed on Swift platform and is positioned in the premium hatchback segment. The car has been specifically designed for the Indian customers where Maruti Suzuki engineers worked with the Suzuki design team in Japan to co-design the new car and carry out India-specific change.

New Tata Safari Coming Soon in India

The new Tata Safari had been spied testing on Indian roads earlier this year. The second generation Tata Safari will be based on Aria X2 platform with more space in the interiors along with a new structure making it more rigid and equipping it with better handling capacities. The new model will also have lots of space and will be loaded with features such ABS, Airbags, Climate Control etc.

Unidentified sources from Tata Motors have revealed that the new Tata Safari is ready to be launched by mid-January 2011. As far as the engine is concerned, speculations are that Tata will be bringing its proven 2.2L VTT DiCOR to this model as well. The model may be a little lighter than the existing one to make it more fuel efficient.

Tata Motors’ upcoming launch this year is the new Tata Ace which is the eight-seater van based on Tata Venture platform. The model will compete with Maruti Eeco which has replaced Omni in the Indian market.

Toyota Etios To Compete Against Maruti Swift

Toyota Etios is planned to be finally launched in December this year. The company is in final stages of launching the car as its round of display across Indian cities comes to an end shortly. Toyota Etios was in Bangalore recently where Toyota India MD Hiroshi Nakagawa stated that Toyota Etios will compete against models like Maruti Swift and Hyundai i20 in the Indian market.

“It has been a challenge to build quality at a lower price,” Nakagawa said. “The Indian car market is one of the toughest markets in the world. Customers and car owners are very cost-conscious,” he said. Toyota has managed to lower the cost of its cars with sourcing of components from Indian market itself. 70 percent of the components in the car are locally sourced keeping price under control and quality uncompromised.

Toyota is reeling under quality control pressures in the global markets. Thus, while launching Etios it has kept quality and safety as its prime features apart from the price. “Bringing procurement cost to a very competitive level is a do or die challenge for our procurement and production teams,” Executive Vice President Yukitoshi Funo said in an interview.

Toyota Etios will be initially launched in the Indian market first and then will be subsequently introduced in China and Brazil.

New Honda CBR 150R Bike Coming Soon in Indian Market

There were reports of a new Honda CBR 250R bike coming to the Indian market and now there is information on CBR 150R. Honda will be launching eight new motorcycles next month at the EICMA show from its 2011 line-up. Amongst the new model is the CBR150R that might just make it to the Indian shores pretty soon.

Honda has already launched the model in Thailand and it is now expected to launch it in the Indian market as well. The new CBR 150R is equipped with programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI) engine. Honda CBR 150R like the CBR 250R comes with disc brakes at the front and the rear but misses ABS. Like its predecessors, Honda CBR 150R gets full fairing and split seats.

Both the models will be revealed in the European form at the Milan show on November 2.

Skoda Yeti To Be Launch in India in November

Skoda Auto is ready to introduce its latest SUV model Yeti in India on November 18 next month. Skoda Auto India disclosed their plans at the launch of their car Fabia. Powered with 2.0 liter diesel engine Yeti will cost around Rs 15 lakh and comes with an engine that already powers Skoda Laura in India. This vehicle will be the first 4X4 model of the company and will be listed under the SUV category.

Skoda has planned a shower of launches for the Indian customers. Amongst the slew of launches during the festive season, it has already begun its sales strategy with a new Skoda Fabia which is at least Rs. 60,000 less than its predecessor priced at Rs. 4.32 lakh. Skoda Yeti is the next one to hit the Indian market next month. Skoda has also announced a replacement of Skoda Octavia in the Indian market.

The growth in the auto markets of developing economies like China and India has been remarkable during these days. By the launch of the new line-up of the models, Skoda is eyeing to take advantage from the booming auto market of developing India. Skoda has been previewing Yeti across various cities of India and has already received 1000 bookings for the model.

Suzuki Kizashi Sedan Spotted in India

Autocar India reports spotting the premium sedan from Suzuki, the Kizashi, on the Indian roads. According to the recent pictures from Autocar India, it spotted a black Kizashi sedan in Pune bearing an HR number plate. Pune is the city housing the ARAI which gives certificate for the cars to be suitable for Indian roads. The car is expected to be in Pune to get homologation clearances from the ARAI before it is finally available commercially.

Kizashi has been reported to be more stable and deliver better driving experience than the Toyota Camry or Accord. Maruti intends to place the car between Honda Civic and Accord with an expected price tag of Rs. 17 lakh. The model is rumoured to be imported as a CBU which will make it pricier. Its USP for the Indian market will be sportier looks and premium driving pleasure. MSIL may bring a diesel variant soon followed by a petrol one.

While this new car has been spotted by Autocar India, TeamBHPians have also reported spotting a white Kizashi in Gurgaon. “White Coloured SUZUKI KIZASHI with KIZASHI branding on the number/ license plate as if the car was for some expo/ showroow display... the car had 16/17 inches low profile tyres and tints on the rear door glasses/ qaurter panel and rear windscreen..” reported TeamBHP. However, the user had not posted any actual pictures of the car.

25000th Skoda Fabia Rolls Out in India

Mahindra Launched New Bikes: Mahindra Stallio & Mahindra Mojo in India

World class Italian design, raw power, adrenaline and speed. India's bikers can look forward to all this and much more as Mahindra 2 Wheelers' Stallio and Mojo motorcycles made their debut at a high voltage launch in Mumbai today.

"In the last twelve months Mahindra 2 Wheelers has achieved a milestone by registering a sale of 1.5 lac units – a clear validation of the success of our niche PowerScooters strategy. We are now all geared up to redefine the biking experience in India with the Stallio and the Mojo which are a potent blend of global technology and innovation and will take the category to the next level," said Mr. Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra Group.

The Mahindra Stallio is available in two variants – Self Start / Cast Alloy wheels / Digital Console and Kick Start / spoke wheels which are available at Rs.44,699/- and 41,199/- (ex showroom Pune), respectively, while the Mahindra Mojo is priced at Rs. 1.75 lac/- (ex showroom Pune). The Stallio will be available at 370 Mahindra 2 Wheelers dealerships across the country. The Stallio comes with a four year manufacturer's warranty. The distribution model for Mojo will be different and therefore, would be available only in select outlets.

The Mahindra Stallio and Mojo are all set to storm the motorcycle segment with their sleek, sporty contours, Italian styling and comfort. The bikes incorporate design elements from the Italian boutique design house, Engines Engineering which has worked for marques such as Ducati, MV Augusta and Benelli.

Mahindra Stallio:
Biking will soon take on a whole new dimension with this powerful steed. The Mahindra Stallio is a tough and durable bike with several stylish features which puts it in a distinct motorcycling segment. These include digital speedometer, powerful LED tail lamps, pilot LED lamps and a fully flush fuel tank cap.

The large, fully digital display – the first in this segment - comes equipped with a speedometer, fuel gauge, tachometer and clock. It also gives you an idea of the distance travelled in one trip. The Stallio's visor features a sharp, inverted arrow design which is sure to stop traffic when you zoom past. This nifty bike sports cool racing style alloy wheels which are strong and lightweight. They not only provide more stability at corners but also have better tolerance to shocks and ensure good heat dissipation. These trendy alloys are complemented by class leading wheel base of 1265 mm which provide a stable ride and good ground clearance. The fuel tank cap blends seamlessly with the body of the bike, further adding to its style quotient.

Mahindra 2 Wheelers has, in fact, devised a unique marketing and promotion strategy for this ultimate performance bike which will be revealed when the bike will be available for sale in the next 3-4 months.

This modern classic is driven by a 4V DOHC engine which offers peak power of 26 BHP @ 8500 rpm and maximum torque of 24 Nm @ 7000 rpm, making it a performance biker's dream come true. It also features a 6 speed gearbox, as opposed to the regular 5 speed gearbox found amongst its peers, along with a sporty dual exhaust for the right propulsion.

The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system has been developed by Ducati Energia of Italy. In an industry first, the Mojo sports inverted front shock absorbers developed by Paioli of Italy, which ensures superior shock absorbing ability at high speeds. This is complemented by a horizontally mounted mono shox at the rear, allowing for much more comfortable ride. Radially mounted assembly also helps in accurate braking.

The Mojo is the first ever motorcycle in India to sport Pirelli tubeless radials. They are also the widest tyres in their class (4" x 17" at the rear), ensuring greater stability. These are complemented by edgy front petal disc brakes which are the largest in the segment at 320 mm to ensure safe braking. There's a disc brake at the rear as well.

The bike also features LED pilot lamps and tail lamps with clear lens indicators in the headlamp, ensuring greater visibility for the rider. The display includes a digital speedometer with fuel gauge, tripmeter, gear shift indicator, and analogue tachometer. The bike also sports indicators on the rear view mirrors, which are not seen on Indian bikes.

This showstopper sports an aerodynamic ‘tear drop' shape and a classic gold frame assembly with twin headlamps adding to the bike's distinctly retro look. The dual pipe frame adds strength to the overall structure of the bike, while the under cowl enhances the Mojo's macho appeal. This ‘exoskeleton' look is usually only found in top notch brands.

The Mojo is available in a choice of two colours – red and black. Customers also have the option of customising their bikes with a range of decals.
