Equipped with a BS-IV compliant 2.4 MIVEC engine, some of the key enhancements in the Outlander 2010 include the jet-fighter front grill, bulged rear bumper, silver-color roof rails and HID Head Lamp with AFS function.

The All Wheel Control system in the Outlander provides for the wheels to be powered individually, which ensures superior handling in all driving conditions. A centrally located dial system, located on the center console, permits free switching between 3 drive modes (2WD, 4WD Auto and 4WD Locked), depending on the driving conditions and the environment. The Anti-lock braking System (ABS) helps prevent wheel lock and maintenance of steer control, while the Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) evenly distributes braking force to the rear wheels, adding to overall safety.

A low-cost Indian car made by domestic vehicle maker Bajaj Auto and Renault will cost 2,500 dollars, about the same price as the Tata Nano, now the world's cheapest model, a report said Tuesday.

Bajaj Auto managing director Rajiv Bajaj said his firm had agreed that the car being developed with Renault and its Japanese alliance partner Nissan would sell for 2,500 dollars ( INR. 1,10,000 ), the Indian Express newspaper said.

The snub-nosed hatchback Nano, produced by leading Indian vehicle maker Tata Motors, is available in a price range of 123,000 to 172,000 rupees, depending on accessories.

The new Bajaj-Renault model was due to hit the market this year but the launch has been postponed to 2012.

The design, engineering, sourcing and manufacturing of the unnamed new model will be handled by Bajaj Auto, India's leading motorbike and rickshaw maker, while the marketing and selling will be done by the Renault-Nissan alliance.

French automaker Renault has teamed up with Bajaj to produce the car, which would challenge the Nano as automakers worldwide try to tap into India's fast-growing car market.

The Indian car market -- forecast to triple to six million cars annually from two million in a decade -- is fast turning into a global battleground, especially in the small vehicle segment, as automakers seek new growth regions.

Late last year Renault president Carlos Ghosne said the cost of the car would be "amazing" and "lower than any car today made in India" when taking into account fuel and other running expenses.

Now even more powerful, lighter and faster: Audi presents a limited-production version of it R8 high-performance sports car, the R8 GT. The output of its 5.2-liter V10 has been increased to 412 kW (560 hp); vehicle weight has been reduced by roughly 100 kilograms (220.46 lb). The R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph).

The R8 high-performance sports car has been a winner from the very beginning. This applies to both the production models, winners of the "World Performance Car" Award in 2008 (R8) and in 2010 (R8 V10), and to the race car, the R8 LMS, which won 23 races in its first season and claimed three championships. The genes of the race version are now coming to the street – in the R8 GT. The exclusive series is limited to 333 units. Each R8 GT has a badge with its production number on the shift lever knob.

Consistent use of lightweight construction: 100 kilograms (220.46 lb) trimmed

The production R8 5.2 FSI quattro is already a shining example of the Audi's lightweight construction philosophy. Its aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF) body weighs only 210 kilograms (462.97 lb). The aluminum body panels are joined to the frame of extruded profiles and cast nodes by means of positive and friction connections. The engine frame is made of ultra lightweight magnesium.

The ASF body is largely hand-built at the Neckarsulm plant in a complex manufacturing process. The extremely high strength of the body is the basis for the high-performance sports car’s precise handling, and it also offers good vibration comfort and first-rate crash safety.

Thanks to the ASF body, the production R8 5.2 FSI quattro weighs only 1,625 kilograms (3,582.51 lb) – with quattro permanent all-wheel drive and optional R tronic transmission. This made it all the more difficult for the engineers to once again achieve substantial weight savings. They took an elaborate approach involving every aspect of the vehicle, and in the end the scales came to rest at 1,525 kilograms (3,362.05 lb).

Even sharper and more effective: the design

The design of the Audi R8 GT is the expression of concentrated power – a beautiful, technical sculpture measuring 4.43 meters (14.53 ft) long, 1.93 meters (6.33 ft) wide and only 1.24 meters (4.04 ft) high. The exterior underwent numerous modifications that further sharpened the appearance. Many of them also reduce the weight and enhance the aerodynamics. The R8 GT produces even more downforce when driven fast than the production model – without any increase in the Cd value (0.36) or frontal area (1.99 m2) (21.42 sq ft).

The frame of the single-frame grille, its struts and the slats in the air intakes are finished in matt titanium gray; the grille is painted matt black. The splitter under the bumper has a double lip and is made of carbon. Slender, curved flics at the corners of the nose increase the downforce on the front axle and are also made of a carbon fiber composite.

Breathtakingly powerful: the 412 kW (560 hp) 5.2 FSI

The modified V10, whose cylinder head covers are painted red, gives the Audi R8 GT breathtaking performance. The R8 GT sprints from a standing start to highway speed in 3.6 seconds, and from zero to 200 km/h (124.27 mph) in 10.8 seconds. And the thrust does not let up until the top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph) is reached.

Changes to the engine electronics coaxed an additional 26 kW from the ten-cylinder, which now produces 412 kW (560 hp) from a displacement of 5,204 cc. The torque curve peaks at 540 Nm (398.28 lb-ft) at 6,500 rpm, 10 Nm (7.38 lb-ft) more than in the production version. The V10 has a specific power output of 79.2 kW (107.6 hp) per liter displacement. Its power-to-weight ratio is 3.70 kilograms (8.16 lb) per kW or 2.72 kilograms (6.00 lb) per hp. The engine redlines at 8,700 rpm.

The drivetrain: uncompromising traction

Gear changes in the R8 GT are handled by the R tronic sequential manual transmission. The electrohydraulic clutch and switching unit receive their commands electronically. It changes its six gears much faster than a skilled driver could – within a tenth of a second at high load and engine speed.

The electronic management system offers an automatic mode with the Sport and Normal characteristics, and two manual levels. It is controlled using the short gear selector lever on the center tunnel and two paddles on the steering wheel. Maximum thrust when starting is ensured by Launch Control – a program that manages full acceleration with high engine speed and minimum wheel slip when starting.

Chassis even tauter and more precise

The Audi R8 GT high-performance sports car is a driving machine with breathtaking lateral acceleration and lightning-fast, nearly instantaneous reactions. Its engine is mid-mounted close to the vertical axis; its mass is almost negligible during fast direction changes. The R8 GT is dynamic, precise and stable in almost every situation.

The chassis follows the classic racing design – double wishbones made of aluminum locate the wheels. The hydraulic, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering has a direct 16.3:1 ratio and connects the driver closely and precisely with the road. A manually adjustable coilover suspension, which lowers the body by as much as 10 millimeters (0.39 in), is standard. Higher front and rear wheel camber rates make the handling a tick more agile than with the standard model.

Exclusive and dynamic: interior and equipment

At Audi, reducing weight means increasing performance and efficiency, but not sacrifice. The Audi R8 GT, which Audi sells in Germany for €193,000, comes with an automatic climate control system and power windows, a navigation system with MMI operating logic and a powerful sound system. A 465 watt, ten-channel Bang & Olufsen sound system, a CD changer and the Audi Music Interface are available as options. As always with Audi, the interior shows loving attention to detail. Rich materials spoil the occupants with a fine look and feel.

The new BMW 5 Series was unveiled today at the exclusive BMW pavilion which has been specially constructed for the launch in India. The new BMW 5 Series is available in two petrol variants – 535i and 523i and two diesel variants – 530d and 525d and can be ordered at BMW dealerships across India.

Volkswagen just launched Volkswagen Polo small car in India. Its already getting good response from indian buyers and now Volkswagen ready to launch the new electric model from Indian market as well. New Electric Car is currently under final testing stage. Volkswagen will launch its electric car in India by 2013.

Volkswagen CEO Dr. Martin Winterkorn said, "We want to build the electric car that everyone can afford." Volkswagen’s Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn announced in March. First up will be a test fleet of 500 battery-powered Golfs next year. Golfs will be followed in 2012 by a production hybrid version of the next-generation Jetta for the US market. Volkswagen is in talks with Toshiba and Sanyo to source powerful and affordable lithium-ion batteries.

India's most favourite family car just got bigger, spacious and more stylish with Maruti Suzuki, the country's number one automobile manufacturer, launching an all-new WagonR - titled endearingly 'the blue eyed boy'.

The new WagonR comes equipped with a new L-shaped front suspension frame for an enhanced ride comfort. This fine-tuned 3-point suspension is congruous to Indian roads and driving conditions, providing soft relaxed rides along with dynamic handling and lower NVH.

The new design steering wheel can be tilted to suit driver's driving comfort, while the ergonomically designed gear shift knob snugly fits into the driver's palm. This new car will be come as a codename of Dolhpin & will be coming soon in next 24 months. Car will be powered by 800-1000cc engine and will be compact as well. There is nothing came from the official side but it should be the gift for Ratan Tata who will retire soon from the board.

Another good one is that Tata Nano Electric also will be introduced in Europe in next 24-30 months. For indian market its not announced yet.

The new A8 is a concentrated high-tech package that confirms the Audi claim to technical leadership – "Vorsprung durch Technik". And now the brand is introducing the top version of its flagship model. The A8 L W12 quattro, with a long wheelbase and a twelve-cylinder engine, sets new standards of luxury, dynamism and efficiency in the top automobile manufacturing league. The Audi A8 L is being launched with a twelve-cylinder engine, but by the end of the year will be available with all the engines currently offered for the A8.

What's fascinating about the A8 L is its supremely powerful presence; its design is clearly derived from the brand’s genes and yet has undergone further refinement. The long wheelbase does not disturb its taut outlines, which remain as athletic as they are elegant.

With an overall length of 5,267 millimeters (17.28 ft), the new Audi A8 L is 130 mm (0.43 ft) longer than the regular version. The wheelbase has grown by the same amount, to 3,122 mm (10.24 ft). The width remains unchanged at 1,949 mm (6.39 ft); the height has increased by 2 mm (0.08 in) to 1,462 mm (4.8 ft). Audi's new top model is both longer and wider than its main long-wheelbase competitors.

The A8 L has a body built from aluminum using the Audi Space Frame (ASF) principle and therefore weighing about 40 percent less than a comparable steel body. The ASF body structure is built up from cast elements, extruded sections and sheet aluminum, with integral B-posts made from form-hardened ultra-high strength steel. This body’s tremendous rigidity is the key to the car's precise handling, low interior noise levels and high passive safety for the occupants in the event of an accident.

Among the high-end technologies featured on the A8 model line are the optional LED headlight units (standard on the A8 L W12 quattro) with all lighting functions performed by LEDs. With this bright, high-efficiency light, Audi opens a new chapter in the history of automobile lighting technology.

Subtle visual details distinguish the A8 L W12 quattro from the other cars in this model line. The single-frame radiator grille with integral grid structure has a high-gloss black paint finish and special chromed horizontal bars. There are also chromed inserts of new design in the air inlets, and chromed applications on the exterior mirrors. W12 badges are displayed on the single-frame grille and at the rear of the car. The exhaust system has two trapezoidal-pattern tailpipe trims neatly integrated into the rear bumper.

Maruti Cars India is planning to re-launch its model Maruti Alto in the Indian market. New Model of Maruti Alto will come with an upgraded engine. New engine is compliant with the new BS IV stage norms. This new model will be priced around Rs 2 Lakh & above.

MSIL Chairman RC Bhargava said, "The Alto will not be much more expensive than the 800 and we will keep trying to do whatever we can to make it more and more affordable."

RC Bhargava added "The car will be in showrooms in the next couple of months but don’t expect major changes in design. The company doesn’t want to change the design of its highly successful car model and its not just Alto, Maruti is planning to refresh its entire car line up a new Wagon R which is also expected before end of April."

Maruti Suzuki is phasing out Maruti 800 model and the new Maruti Alto is its flagship model. Maruti sells around 20,000 Maruti Alto every month.

Adding to its portfolio of impressive and successful motorcycle models, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. today unveiled its new motorcycle, YBR 110 (pronounced as YBR One ten) in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki India planning to launch new Maruti WagonR with updated engine in India. The launching date of new Maruti WagonR is around April 23, 2010.

"This (new WagonR) is not a minor change, but a full model change. So, lot of investment have gone for it. We have invested about Rs 290 crore for upgrading the model," said Maruti Suzuki India Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek.


Mayank Pareek also said that the current model of WagonR available in Duo and the new will be petrol only. There is no LPG model or CNG model on the card. Company will decide about the new variants depending upon the customer response from the market. The all new Maruti WagonR price will be INR 3.33 - 4.50 Lakh.

According to Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) standards, the car, which delivers 68 PS power, give a mileage of 18.9 km/litre. Mr. Pareek, however, said the company had stopped producing petrol/LPG variant ‘Duo' of WagonR.
